Dear all
I'm compiling some research on the impact of recession on workplace basic education  - funding, policy, enrollment figures, persistence, approach etc.  I have a question I've not been able to answer and hope that some of you may be able to help?
 
Why was the National Workplace Literacy Programm made defunct?  Was it funding cutbacks?  Was it replaced?

As you know, the National Commission on Adult Literacy released its final report, Reach Higher, America at an event at the U.S. Capitol on June 26th. The panel presentation and Q&A from that morning are now available in 5 short DVD segments from the Commission's website: www.nationalcommissiononadultliteracy.org. Go to the Get Reports page and scroll to the bottom for the link. You will be able to view the segments on both PC and Mac platforms with current Flash or QuickTime players. 

Note that the full DVD can also be purchased from CAAL for a nominal sum (contact bheitner at caalusa.org for instructions and cost).
