We at American Hispanic School in CA. started the ADULT HIGH SCHOOL COMPLETION program on 2002, to empower families and to connect Parents and Children.
 
The main adult learning strategy is the Independent Study weekly assignement.
We encourage the adult to share what is learning with his/her family as a way to restore the family values and  transfer their knowledge and skills to new generations.
 
The subjects are centered on ASE issues, including Languages, Social studies, Math.  Science: aditionally,   to prompt Charater and Readiness ( Read with undersatanding - Covey ideas in writing - Use math everyday  to plan Interpersonal and Lifelong Learning skills -   throughout curriculum.
 
This is dayly Family Literacy  intergenerational transfer.
At Graduation day, we invite the whole families and make them, Parents And Childen Together speak to the audience about their individual experience .
 
We have graduated more tha 2.000 FAMILIES, rather than INDIVIDUALS.
 
One other :
We are preparing a wide character education initiative with the Parents and Children Togeteher learning human rights, respect each other, create and pursue vision and goals, to stop our society moral decay.

I am currently in the process of starting a similar initiative in Rotorua , New Zealand . This particular region has very high literacy needs and has a high population of Maori (native people of NZ). We have started a workplace literacy project with a number of employers and are currently looking at the possible ways of including family literacy component. So I would be very interested in keeping in touch with you and perhaps to collaborate in some ways.

I'm working on a two-year project with the Centre for Family Literacy here in Edmonton , Alberta , Canada , looking at the feasibility of adding a family literacy component to workplace literacy programs. What is the Workplace Family Literacy Project?

The Workplace Family Literacy Project is a two-year, province-wide research project. We will be exploring if and how family literacy programs can provide additional curriculum components to workplace literacy initiatives.

Building on the research done in the field of workplace literacy, the project will review a range of options for programming and suggest adaptations to current family literacy programs for workplace delivery.

This project will seek to achieve the following specific objectives:
- Survey a range of businesses and industries to measure their understanding of the relationship of literacy and essential skills to their business success
- Identify the capacity of Alberta literacy providers to deliver family-based literacy programming in the workplace
- On the basis of the survey findings, and with the guidance of a steering committee made up of business, labour, and literacy representatives, identify best practices and models for delivering family-based literacy programs in the workplace
- Pilot the program models with a minimum of two employers, using the best practices that emerged
- Produce a practical guide to assist literacy organizations in the implementation of family-based literacy programming in the workplace
- Produce a how-to guide for businesses demonstrating how improving the literacy and essential skills levels of their workforce is a sound business investment ----------------------------------------------------
