Hi Ruth, good to hear from you.

Yes, I agree, am v lucky with responses. Have a look for yourself at the
email from Anne Alkema. Her attachments will be so useful I can't tell
you. If you can't view them let me know and I will forward what she sent.

As for choosing Canada: It's really that I love doing comparative research
(for my Bachelors degree, the linguistics part, I studied the differences
between girls' and boys' written book reviews) so I knew that I wanted to
compare the UK with somewhere else. I chose Canada because I have an
adventurous spirit and would love to work there for a while especially up
in the frozen north with indigenous people. As you know I worked with
indigenous Australians though their North certainly wasn't frozen. We'll
see if I can pull it off anyway. My husband is also v interested in health
and indigenous communities (he is a doctor). Never been interested in the
Harley St end of things, prefers working with people who have nothing!

How is your work and research going? And your travels?

Keep in touch
Ruth S
