[Workplace 1193] Introducing Nancy WattersNancy Watters nwatters at readsociety.bc.caThu Feb 28 12:28:19 EST 2008
Hello everyone: I've just joined the staff of the Victoria READ Society as lead researcher for a workplace literacy project: Workplace Literacy - bridging employer and employee needs in BC's Capital Region. This one-year project, funded by Service Canada, aims to 1) increase awareness and understanding of workplace literacy issues, among employers and employees, 2) identify workplace literacy needs (employer and employee) in up to five key employment sectors, and 3) identify, review and analyze workplace literacy best-practices with a focus on appropriate options and approaches for our region, which is characterized by predominantly small and medium size businesses. My background includes design and management of community-based programs and research in the areas of family literacy (Even Start) and community education. As an independent consultant I engaged in action-research for parent input, delivered workshops on positive parenting, character education and grant writing, and conducted program evaluations. (see www.virtuesconsulting.com). I have extensive experience working with diverse cultures and stakeholders. My Master's degree is in Counseling Psychology, and I have practiced as a family therapist with particular emphasis on positive parenting, infant mental health and families at risk. I look forward to "meeting" you all in this forum and drawing on your expertise as this project progresses. Warm regards, Nancy Watters, M.A. Lead Researcher--Workplace Literacy Project Victoria READ Society 201-3440 Douglas Street Victoria, BC, Canada V8Z 3L5 Ph: 250-388-7225 Fax: 250-386-8330 Victoria READ Society Celebrating 30 years helping learners learn -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
