However, list etiquette (or netiquette) protocol is not to name names and vent anger toward individuals, particularly when the people you mention are not on the list to respond to your criticisms. >From your previous messages, it's clear that you have issues with (and anger toward) a local school disrict in Maryland. But just as media reporters are obliged to present both sides of a conflict, so are list servs because they are a form of public communication. I would suggest that you address your issues and concerns directly with the parties with whom you are in conflict, and not continue to use this listserv as a public forum for your personal conflicts. Certainly, this list welcomes messages from its subscribers who wish to address the broad topics of poverty, racism, and literacy and their interconnectedness. And we welcome your messages that relate to these topics. Thanks for your understanding. -Mary Ann Corley NIFL-povracelit List Moderator On Sat, 5 Oct 2002 07:45:38 -0400 (EDT) tjjhjr@netscape.net wrote: > that's right invite Nancy Grasmick to > speak......maybe someone will ask her IN PUBLIC > about OCR and the law in Md.....be ready for > that Ms. G.......the one person who could have > acted in Maryland to help ESL kidds but who > condoned Frederick County Maryland's violation > of state and federal laws concerning ESL > students by her silence....Ms. Grasmick is not > in her position for the children or she would > have replied to the concerns raised by OCR > having Frederick monitored for 3 years....she > must be there for other reasons like so many > others > > > > > > > > "Mary Ann Corley" wrote: > > >CONNECTING SCHOOL REFORM & SOCIAL JUSTICE > >Taylor Branch, a national authority on the > civil rights movement, will > >deliver the closing keynote address at Public > Education Network's 2002 > >annual conference, "Standards-Based Reform: A > Civic Imperative."
