I am currently working on a project for a provincial literacy organization and I have accessed and read a number of the NCAL publications. They have been very useful to my research (on practitioner training). Some have pushed me as a literacy practitioner to examine my beliefs and philosophies and some have made me wish my federal government would provide more funding for similar research in Canada (and maybe they are, and I just don't know about it). Maybe looking for hard evidence to "prove" that "practitioners had thought that the research of the first five years had helped them improve their practice." is a bit like examining the question "do literacy programs really help adult learners improve their literacy skills" - some changes are very subtle and hard to quantify.... -- "Simple perception is not sufficient for learning; something must be done with it" ~ D.A.Kolb Lindsay Kennedy Researcher/Writer Tel: 519-848-5141 Fax: 519-848-2974
